Are you passionate about what we're doing? Let us know! We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. We'll help you find a way to volunteer that best suits you. We're excited to have you join the team!
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
We were founded in 1983, as OASMP. Founding members were Phil Cardeiro, Irene Crispo, Nancy Stilwell Easterbrook, Col. Gregg McKee Sr., Mickey McKee, John Mockett, and Mimi Schermerhorn.
In early 2014, we voted to change the name to the Asian Art Society of the Monterey Peninsula, or AASMP. In 2015, we voted to change the name to the Asian Art Society
of Monterey Bay or AASMB. The Society of Asian Art (SAA) of the Asian Art Museum
of San Francisco (AAMSF), provides Docent Lecturers, and we feature lecturers
on Asian History & Culture from all over the world.
Our organization hosts an annual Gala Dinner and Free Lectures on Asian History and Culture approximately 7-8 months of the year in Monterey. We host a wide variety of guest speakers with slide shows and videos, live performances, demonstrations, as well as educational and fun bus trips. Several of our expert members provide free Asian antique appraisals and appraisal clinics.
As funds are available, AASMB will award a College Scholarship to one or more students at MIIS, CSUMB, Hartnell and/or MPC, studying Asian art, languages, or culture.
We are dedicated to improving the lives of those in our community. Your contribution today helps us make a difference.
